What is Slow Faith?

Burnand, Eugène. Peter and John Running to the Tomb. 1898, Musée d’Orsay, Paris.

Hi, I’m Drew. I got degrees in theology and English and decided I was going to be the next big Christian writer. I bought a website and called it “Drew Brown Writes” and put my headshot in as many places as possible. I wrote pieces that courted controversy because that’s what edgy Christian writers do.

But I was exhausted and anxious.

The more I looked around, the more I realized a lot of people were also exhausted and anxious. Somewhere along the way we were taught to brand ourselves, to perform our faith, and to gain as many admirers as possible. We needed to stand on a stage and perform and be perfect. For God.

But I discovered Jesus loved me with or without a brand or a platform. That perhaps I could write in sustainable and intentional ways, that perhaps others might also enjoy something simpler, less chaotic or loud.

Slow Faith is the slow and faithful pursuit of God and of life. It is not flashy, and it is not fast. But it is worth it.

I’d love to have you follow along to my newsletter! I also sell books at slowfaithbooks.com, and all subscribers get 15% off in the store.

Note: My brain wasn’t made to be primarily online, so unfortunately I do not receive any email responses to the pieces I write. I do this not because I don’t want to hear from you! In the past, I’ll become so preoccupied with my online persona that I fail to actually live the life in front of me. My apologies!

Me and my hero, my Grandma Sue.
